The Lopez Historical Museum

Be sure to stop in for some more Lopez History!

Rotating exhibits, and a repository of photos, objects, and archives, the Lopez Museum is open Wednesday - Sunday, 11-4:30pm May through September.

The Mission of the Lopez Island Historical Society is to collect, preserve, interpret, and share local history to increase awareness and appreciation of this resource for the benefit of future generations. The Lopez museum opened in 1980 and has been serving the island community and visitors alike ever since.

The museum is home to rotating exhibits -- there's a children's corner, natural history, classic photographs, the beloved signature quilt, model boats, and historic boats outside. Present exhibits include "Tide of Change -- Fisherman's Bay 1945-1955" "Swálech to Lopez: Impacts of Colonization on the Straits Salish" and "Commerce, Clubs & Community."
